The Complete SupportUKtoday Story

The Establishment of SupportUKtoday

From Personal Struggle to Purpose-Driven Mission

The Foundation: Years of Service (1991–2014)

Since 1991, I served as Regional Coordinator for Welfare and Charities with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, coordinating volunteers across multiple towns and working with homeless shelters, hospitals, care homes, and Leukaemia Lymphoma Research (Bloodwise).

Through years of hands-on charity work, a vision formed: create one unified brand that could support multiple UK charities through sustainable, transparent giving.

The First Attempt: S'port Me Today (sportmetoday.com)

S'port Me Today logo

S'port Me Today was the finishing line I was determined to reach to start a new journey. It represented both an ending and a beginning - the end of my personal struggle and the start of my mission to help others.

The brand launched with the tagline "Support Mankind Forever" and featured a colourful windmill logo symbolising transformation from darkness to light.

The Windmill: A Symbol Born from Adversity

The colourful windmill represented my personal journey of transformation and inner self change. Like a windmill that catches the wind and transforms it into energy, I had learned to transform adversity into purpose.

The Setback: Betrayal and Debt

As the vision grew, I brought in advisors and partners to help build the brand. I trusted people with my business name, my mission, and my future.

Then came the betrayal.

A former business director and advisor stole the business name and left me buried in debt. The brand I had built was taken from me.

But I didn't break. I rebuilt.

The Rebuild: Support US Today (sportustoday.co.uk)

After the betrayal, I rebranded to Support US Today (sportustoday.co.uk), introducing two teddy bears holding hearts to represent comfort, companionship, and togetherness.

The message shifted: "US" not "me" - we're in this together.

The Transition: Building Partner Campaigns

Between Support US Today and the final SupportUKtoday establishment, I developed and legally protected three interconnected domains during a period of transition:

1. SupportUKtoday.com - The Primary Domain

I began building supportuktoday.com as the primary domain, bringing back the windmill symbol combined with the teddy bear and heart - uniting all elements into one complete brand identity.

2. NoMeNoTrees (nomenotree.co.uk) - Mental Health Campaign

NoMeNoTrees logo

Created with Dean Cole, who understood the power of the tree metaphor. The logo shows a tree half bare, half full - representing the journey from darkness to light, from depression to hope, from winter to spring.

This campaign supports mental health charities and raises awareness that recovery is possible.

3. JustForMeandMyDog (justformeandmydog.com) - Companionship Campaign

JustForMeandMyDog quote

Inspired by a former business director's idea from up North, this campaign was in turmoil during the transition period. I fought to protect it, securing the domain and bringing it under the SupportUKtoday umbrella where it would be safe and sustainable.

It supports people experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges through the bond with their companion animals.

Legal Protection: Securing the Mission

After being betrayed once, I refused to let it happen again. I legally protected every domain associated with the brand:

  • sportmetoday.com - Original S'port Me Today brand (protected and redirected)
  • sportustoday.co.uk - Support US Today (protected)
  • supportustoday.co.uk - Active storefront and mission site
  • supportuktoday.com - Primary live domain
  • nomenotree.co.uk - NoMeNoTrees mental health campaign (protected)
  • justformeandmydog.com - JustForMeandMyDog companionship campaign (protected)

No one would steal my mission again.
